Our ladder stand-offs are a high-quality ladder accessory that allows flexibility as you use your ladder without risk to your personal safety. A ladder stand-off is essentially a metal bracket that attaches to the rungs of your ladder, metal hooks fix it securely into place, and feet stick out to balance the ladder safely against the wall.
The legs push against the surface of the wall in line with the ladder, keeping it away from the wall and allowing you a greater range of motion and accessibility whilst up your ladder. This also means you won’t have to dangerously lean back to reach angles you couldn’t reach before.
How should you use a ladder standoff?
Step one:
Decide where you want the standoff to sit on your ladder. It will affect them differently at different heights, so it is helpful to measure your ladder against the surface you are working on and plan accordingly.
Step two:
When you are ready to attach the ladder stay on your ladder, line it up with your chosen rung, and clip it in place.
Step three:
Our standoffs at BPS Access Solutions have a wide range of impressive security features that work to ensure the standoff doesn’t detach from the ladder whilst you’re working. Make sure that all safety features are being used properly and double-check all the fastenings as a precaution.
Step four:
Once you are confident that your standoff is suitably secured, lift up your ladder and put it up to the surface you will be working against. Ensure all the feet of the ladder are safely on the ground on a level surface and the feet of the standoff are pressed firmly against the wall.
Step five:
When you’re sure that everything is safe and the ladder is in the right place, gradually climb the ladder, spreading your weight as evenly as possible on each side. Once you get to the top of the ladder, you will now be in an ideal position to have the broadest range and work safely.
When to use a ladder standoff
A ladder standoff from BPS is an invaluable tool when working on elevated surfaces that are not even and/or have several depths. A key example of an ideal use for a ladder stay is cleaning the gutters on your roof, which jut out significantly from the wall surface you have positioned your ladder against.
The standoff keeps the ladder away from the wall of your property to offer you better access. The design of the standoff eases the pressure and evenly distributes it, further lowering the risk of potential damage to guttering, ceiling tiles, etc, that may occur as a result of the ladder knocking into and pressing against them.
